A word from the author

The day I woke up to the news that Diana, Princess of Wales was dead, I found it hard to believe. Several thoughts preyed on my mind, including the possibilitythat she had staged her death. I knew this was a ridiculous notion, but could not help thinking that it would have been the perfect escape, afterall, she had hinted on a surprise for the public, she had said she was retiring from public duties, and had expedited her land mine campaign. Her only route to a normal life would have been to stage her own death.
I wanted to capture and preserve that disbelief felt, not only by myself, but by people around the world, so that we will always remember the shock with which we received the news of her death, and subsequently what she meant to us.
Out of the tragic death of the princess, and the subsequent disbelief, came the powerful inspiration which led to Zebra Crossing.

It is not intended to be presumptuous, in any way, it has little, in-fact, to do with the life or death of the Princess of Wales, although it was inspired by her death. It is intended, instead, to be a tribute.

It is basically an inter-racial, inter-generational family saga, hence the title, Zebra Crossing Clocking at around 150,000 words, it is voluminous, particularly for a first novel, but it is well written, and well researched.

My story benefits from my transatlantic experiences. I am widely travelled and totally conversant with both western and subcontinent worlds. The clash of cultures in my story, makes for interesting character confrontations and relationships.

Friends and colleagues who have read the story have described it as fascinating, and well written.

My inspiration to write has been given a definite boost by the number of poems I have had published, mainly through competitions, both in the UK and in the U S.

Prose - Synopsis, & excerpts from unpublished novel - Zebra Crossing.
